The Romanian Association of Constitutional Law had the honour of being a partner in the organisation of the national scientific conference with international participation “The Survival of the Constitutional Tradition in the Patterns of European Constitutionalism”, third edition, held in Chișinău on 27 March 2026.

The event was organised by the Department of Public Law of the Faculty of Law of Moldova State University and by the “Comparative Public Law and e-Governance” Scientific Research Laboratory, in cooperation with the Institute of Legislative Creation and Comparative Law, the ARDC, the “C.S. Nicolăescu-Plopșor” Institute for Research in Social Studies and Humanities in Craiova, the Information Society Development Institute and the Regional Centre for Social Initiatives and Sustainable Development.

The conference stood out for its high academic level and the topicality of its themes, bringing together distinguished constitutional law scholars. It offered not only a setting for presenting relevant scientific work, but a genuine space for dialogue, reflection and closeness between academic communities that share the same values, in the spirit of European constitutionalism.

The ARDC was represented at the opening by Prof. Marieta Safta, President of the Board of Directors, who underlined the importance of continuity in such academic initiatives and the role of joint events in building a genuine constitutional law community. She thanked the organisers and, in particular, Acad. Prof. Ion Guceac, a member of the ARDC, for this valuable partnership. In the plenary session, Prof. Safta presented the paper “Constitutional diplomacy and judicial dialogue between the Constitutional Court of Romania and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova: constitutional tradition and European convergence”.

The topics addressed ranged from the protection of the Constitution and fundamental rights to the current challenges facing the rule of law and democracy. The papers will be published in the conference volume. A recording of the event is available on YouTube.

The ARDC’s participation reconfirms the association’s steady commitment to academic cooperation, scientific research and institutional partnerships across the European constitutional space.
